Every session is unique, but some families leave an extra mark on my heart. These guys did exactly that during their playful Isle of Palms family session.

While visiting Charleston from New York, they scheduled a beach session with me on IOP. From the very beginning of their session, everyone was so relaxed, and everything flowed so effortlessly. It was fun documenting their love for each other in a way that felt so laid back. Everyone was so comfortable in front of the camera, and nothing ever felt forced.

I loved that it just felt like I was there to document while they played with their little ones. Of course, I have my tricks for convincing sweet toddlers with ideas of their own to cooperate during sessions – even with my own precious boys. But none were needed for this crew!

Family Session on Isle of Palms Beach

We started their session near the dunes by their beach house. Their bubbly little girl wasn’t a bit shy and started a conversation with me as soon as I met them on the beach. I love that her little personality was able to shine, and she could be silly. It was so refreshing just to watch the moments unfold.

Eventually, we made our way to the water for more playtime and photos and made one of my favorite images ever. Their little girl was running from the water with Mom and helping Mom hold her dress just at the perfect moment. Not long after baby brother fell asleep toward the end of our session in Mom’s arms, and those extra snuggles made for some of the sweetest images of the day.

One of the most beautiful things about sessions with your little ones is focusing on how important it is to let go of expectations and enjoy this moment with your kids when you’re in front of my camera. This family did just that! And now I’m just counting down the days until their next session very soon!
