This sunset beach family session was such a memorable one- not just because the sunset was dreamy but because this family made the evening so wonderful. Even though the wind was unforgiving at times, the connection between this family was so incredible. I’ll take windblown hair any day if it means spending time with families like this!

Sunset Beach Family Photos near Charleston

On a sunny evening, I met this family of five just outside of Charleston at one of my favorite beaches for their session. I had the beautiful honor of photographing them a little over a year ago- just after the adoption of these sweet siblings.

I couldn’t get over how much the kids had grown and matured in such a short time. It’s such a wonderful reminder of why documenting your family is so important. So much can change in a year. I know I am biased, but has a Mama myself I am telling you that having these tangible reminders is priceless.

Just as I remembered from our first session together, the kids have this incredible bond and are the most joyous siblings. They are silly, outgoing, sweet, and everything you’d want in your sweet kiddos. Their bond with their parents is incredible. You can see so much love within their images and that is one of the reasons this session is so near to my heart.

Embracing the Wind

The beach that evening was deceptively windy. Everything was calm as we walked from our cars. But the closer we got to the dunes and the water, the crazier the wind got.

Mama looked stunning in her blue dress with beautifully done hair, but the wind had other plans! Thankfully, she was an absolute star and just rolled with it! We had lots of laughs as we attempted to get the wind to work with us instead of against us.

Sometimes no matter how well you plan and check weather reports, the weather catches you off guard. This family embraced it and just had fun with their kids, which is all I can ask! Their images truly radiate so much joy and love, and are the perfectly imperfect reflection of both our time together that evening and this season of life.
