By now I think it’s pretty clear how much I love Fresh 48 sessions- if you missed part one of this Fresh 48 photography series be sure to check it out for all of the good FAQs! When I booked this hospital session with this mama, I asked if she’d answer a few questions afterwards and she sweetly agreed.

And bless her heart, she got answers back to me SO quickly! You would never know she had a newborn and toddler at home! I’m pretty sure I was a hot mess when my second was born and had no idea what day it was.

This session was one of my favorites because big sister was just beaming the whole time. I caught one of my favorite candid moments in my photography career when she was directing Mom and Dad with Grandpa’s iPhone for a photo. I promptly asked if I could hire her as my assistant!

For hospital sessions I tend to love black and white images- I think it really amplifies the emotion. Thankfully we had great light in the room that morning and the color images were still just as dreamy. So without further ado, hopefully these questions and answers will help other expecting mamas considering one of these sweet Fresh 48 sessions!

What do you think makes your Fresh 48 photos so special?

Lauren: “I am so glad I ended up doing the Fresh 48 session because honestly the photos are priceless. My daughter meeting her sister for the first time and all of the little details that may go unnoticed during the crazy 48 hours after delivery were captured wonderfully by Cait.”

What concerns (if any) did you have about a Fresh 48 session? For example, how you’d feel after delivery, etc.

Lauren: “I was a bit nervous about doing the Fresh 48 at first because I knew that I would not feel 100 percent nor look 100 percent and didn’t want that to portray in the photos. I didn’t know what outfit to wear or think that I would have time to make sure my hair and make up we’re done.

The main focus of a Fresh 48 session is not necessarily about you it’s about your new family together and the baby. I just threw on a little bit of concealer and mascara and smoothed my hair down and was good to go. I ended up just wearing black leggings and nursing camisole and threw on a robe with it.”

Did your Fresh 48 session capture details you may have forgotten? Or just didn’t notice at the time?

Lauren: “All of the details of my daughter in the bassinet with her name tag, the hospital blanket, and her hospital bands are all things that are only there for two days and never again so it’s nice to have those moments captured.”

Would you recommend a Fresh 48 session to others?

Lauren: “I would absolutely recommend doing a fresh 48 session! The photos you get you will never be able to re-create and I’m so glad that I took a chance and did them!”
