I’m always thrilled when clients book their Fall family session at the beach – they are just so good for the soul. As much as I love downtown Charleston for a backdrop, the beach is definitely my happy place.

Beach sessions give kids the freedom to play, explore, and just be themselves during our time together. To be honest, kids seem to forget we are even taking their photos!! The scenery is just such a beautiful distraction. It also makes for some of my clients’ very favorite photos, especially for candids.

This beautiful Mama, Amy, is the blogger behind The Coastal Oak. She’s genuinely the kindest person, and it’s been such a joy getting to know her over the last few years. It’s incredible how she has built her business while being present with her sweet kids.

I have photographed their family quite a few times since their youngest son’s newborn photos. I know I say this often but it’s always such a joy to see my clients’ kids as they grow!

Fall Family Session at Isle of Palms Beach

For this session, Amy and her family met me at one of my favorite Isle of Palms spots for their sunset session last fall.

The kids know me by now, which I think helps them be more comfortable during our time together. They have the silliest and most precious little personalities that are balanced by Mom and Dad’s ability to go with the flow. It was important to Mom that we documented this fun stage of life for them while tying in the coastal elements of the beach. So that’s exactly what we did!

Amy now has a collection of photos that coordinate beautifully with their Spanish Moss-filled family session two years ago!
