In short, this sunset maternity session on Folly Beach is one of my absolute favorite maternity sessions to date. I’m a firm believer in documenting every bump, but first-time parents have a special glow about them. This one felt even more meaningful after talking to mama about their journey to baby.

Since this family of (almost) three were visiting Charleston from out of town, I was excited to see everything come together for their maternity session. I dropped off Client Wardrobe dresses the day before at their hotel, Dad sweetly requested I book hair and makeup for Mom with Lashes & Lace to pamper her, and the weather was total perfection.

Folly Beach Inlet

Depending on the tide, we can get a lot more variety at the Folly Beach Inlet than other beaches in Charleston. Thankfully low tide was at sunset, so we were able to get beautiful views of the marsh. And if I’m being totally honest, the film photographer in me loves the greens there! Although it’s a little bit of a trek to get there, these two trusted me and it was SO worth it. This night we had the most magical golden hour and sunset I’ve seen down at the inlet! I love the iconic Morris Island Lighthouse in the background too.

Mom seemed so comfortable in front of the camera. I loved the soft pink of the Fillyboo maternity dress on her. It’s one of my favorites in the Client Wardrobe because the sleeves can be worn on or off the shoulders.

It was so special to document this huge milestone for this sweet family. I cannot wait for them to come back to visit with baby girl someday!
