As a Charleston lifestyle newborn photographer, one of the things I absolutely adore about in-home sessions is being able to see my clients’ nurseries. This gender neutral nursery was no exception! The Mama of this sweet boy has some serious decorating skills so I knew I had to give this nursery its own time.

As a mom of two, I know so much love goes into these rooms over the course of nine months. It’s not just a room for baby to sleep. It’s a space where Mom and Dad will read countless books, change what will feel like an unending amount of diapers, and sing favorite bedtime songs. Even folding and arranging laundry has never been more special. (And trust me it won’t be that special again.. until maybe when the next babe comes along. Ha!)

I don’t always know the story when I walk into that nursery for a session. I don’t know if these sweet parents have waited years for this little one’s arrival. Maybe the books and stuffed animals were gifted by a special person in baby’s life. Or the pictures on the wall may have been drawn by a family member.

So when baby takes a feeding break the first place I go is here. I want to document those little details for you.

I know this room will change and evolve as baby grows into a toddler. My job is to capture the sweetness as it currently is.

the first ever “Featured Nursery” by CMP!

It was fitting to choose this space as the first “Featured Nursery” on CMP because its one of my favorite lifestyle newborn sessions too! That natural light though, a photographer’s dream! The gray walls and light furniture just give it such a serene feel. The subtle safari theme and personalized details were total perfection. And no true Southern nursery can be without a monogram, am I right?!
