Whether you're coming to see a love-soaked family or lifestyle newborn session, glimpses of beautiful Charleston, or my favorite local restaurant and coffee shops - I am excited to share a little piece of my heart with you.
Gosh you guys, this past Fall was such a tough one in the weather department as a Charleston SC Family photographer! At first it seemed I had the worst luck with weather on session days- there were a lot of reschedules. On the days we were able to get sessions in, it was often overcast. Maybe it was a 2020 thing?! Who knows!
I used to shy away from overcast sessions because the editing is truly a bit more challenging. But, last year I had to start embracing the cloudy skies in order to fit my sessions in. And once I did? It was LOVE!
Because digital images render differently in overcast situations, I started to lean more on my film. And goodness, the colors are so dreamy!
Overcast sessions like this one make for the most beautiful pastel tones in your images. The shadows do tend to be darker on overcast days, but can be lightened a tad in editing. I honestly cannot believe I resisted overcast days so much until now! It’s definitely a different look than a sunny session here, but still so beautiful.
It also helps that this sweet family was an absolute gem to work with. They were so comfortable in front of the camera and interactive with their two sweet kids.
Big brother is three years old and as a fellow three year old boy Mom, I was SO impressed with how he rocked this session! We collected a lot of acorns at one point, which is totally something I can work with because my boys would do the same! ha!
We did some exploring in Hampton Park. It’s one of my favorite places to do sessions because of the big oak trees, Spanish moss, and in the Spring the flowers are just stunning. The overcast skies softened all of the colors and just made this session really special.
Mom and Dad were amazing, there were so many sweet candids. I cannot wait to work with them again!
