A lot of people have no idea what fine art maternity photography means, and honestly, that’s okay! In the photography world “fine art” can be very subjective. But, in a broad definition, it’s about documenting what I see as your photographer.

As a Mom myself, I know how fleeting these days are with your babies. In my six years of motherhood, I notice things that some might not. The way Mama brushes her child’s hair to the side, the tenderness of Dad holding his brand new baby, or the way Mama gently calms baby as they snuggle into her embrace.

In this case, it was the way these two were so completely in love with one another. There was just so much love and joyful anticipation to meet their sweet rainbow baby. It was truly such an honor to document this special season of life for them.

Fine Art Maternity Photography | What it Means

It’s important to me to document the emotion, love, and all of the sweet little details in a way that makes you feel something years from now. These moments, though seemingly mundane, are the ones you’ll want to hold on to for years to come.

It’s my hope that you look back at your portraits and can remember the feeling of those baby kicks like it was yesterday. When the memories start becoming foggy (trust me it happens sooner than you think!), it is my hope that you have beautiful, artful images to bring you right back to the scent of your newborn or the feeling of your toddler’s hand in your hand.

Film photography is one of the ways I document that emotion. It creates a timeless feeling- more so than digital images ever could.
