I know the thought of prepping your home for a session after baby arrives can feel daunting, but lifestyle newborn photos in the place you brought baby home are so special. Documenting your growing family in the comfort of your own home and sharing in these tender moments with you is an honor I do not take lightly.

This precious family is a First Year Membership family, meaning I get to see them three times during baby’s first year for all of his big milestones. But first, we documented their maternity session on film a few months prior with a downtown session while Charleston was in full jasmine bloom.

For their membership, they’ve also chosen a six-month and a one-year milestone session to complete their collection. This sweet boy was an absolute angel and slept the entire session. I can’t wait to see what he’s up to and learning by his sitter session!

What Makes an In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session Special

Gosh, where do I even start with this session? I left their home just so incredibly grateful that I get to document this kind of joy for families. Witnessing happy tears as their baby boy lays on Dad’s chest is just one of the most memorable parts of this job. Then getting to photograph him as he grows? That’s an even bigger honor.

We used their main bedroom for most of their session, which had the most beautiful light. Their living room gave us the perfect space to get their pup into several portraits, too! I loved the candid moment when their dog walked over to sniff baby’s toes. It’s always fun to see how dogs react to their new sibling. The nursery (even though it wasn’t quite finished) was so perfect for rounding out our session together!

They’ll make memories over the years in all of these spaces and be able to think back on this time together every time they flip through their album.

After the Session | What to do With Your Lifestyle Newborn Photos

Our final plan for these images is to give them a home in their First Year Membership Album. We carried the cool tones from their wardrobe in our first session to help everything flow seamlessly throughout each session. Mom borrowed from my Client Wardrobe, and Dad’s neutral outfit complemented it perfectly. For each of their sessions, we will ensure each outfit complements the ones before and can easily fit together in a gallery wall design for them to cherish forever.
