To know this family is to love them and their Folly Beach maternity session is one I won’t soon forget. Every moment of this day was dreamier than the one before, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

It’s always an honor to photograph a fellow photographer because you know they value this work and the portraits just as much as you do. It’s extra special when you’ve had the unique and beautiful experience of photographing each others’ families, too. 

Shannon and I met years ago before I started photography, and it was so special getting to know her as our family photographer here in Charleston. She is just so kind and easygoing, and so is the rest of her family. 

Prior to our session, I was really excited about this session because I knew A) her daughter would love being in photos and B) they would be dressed to perfection. Plus, beach sessions just have my heart! As a boy mom, I admit I couldn’t press my shutter fast enough when Shannon’s daughter twirled around in her dress and hat during our narrow walk to the ocean. 

These moments were made even more beautiful documented on film. It always picks up gorgeous color tones and movement and gives images a dreamy, painterly feel. I mean… swoon!! 

Big brother is slowly reaching the age where he isn’t quite as cuddly but was such a good sport for Mom. He was just a tiny bit uneasy about touching Mom’s bump because he thought feeling the baby’s kicks was weird. I can’t really disagree, it probably is so strange for kids!! On the other hand, big sis snuggled with Mom and her bump any chance she got. 

They all had the most beautiful connection and weren’t in a rush at all. We took our time and enjoyed the most beautiful sunset on the beach, chatting and catching up between photos. I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening! 

Session shot on both digital and my Pentax 645nii using Fuji400h film. This family’s wardrobe was all their own, but I have several dresses similar to Mama’s in the Client Wardrobe. Big sister’s dress and hat are Rylee and Cru, one of my very favorite clothing brands for Mama and littles.
