Photographing a motherhood session like this under these dreamy wisteria blooms in Charleston was such a treat last year- it has me counting down the days until this year’s bloom! Timing sessions with the annual blooming of wisteria can be tricky, but it’s SO worth it!

Session with Wisteria Blooms | Charleston, SC

The Spring blooms in Charleston are always something I look forward to. While it’s hard to nail down exactly when this dreamy wisteria will bloom, I always give myself a week or two to ensure I can accommodate clients who love it as much as I do. Typically, I can expect them to bloom in all their aromatic glory by the middle to end of March, but it depends greatly on how cold or mile our winter was that year.

If you have a flexible schedule and want to use the most charming spots like this that I have scouted over the years, I highly recommend planning your session during this timeframe. All wisteria sessions will be scheduled for early in the morning before the crowds (and heat!) arrive in downtown Charleston. These morning sessions are also fantastic for ideal lighting!

Motherhood Portraits

I have had the honor of photographing this family throughout this sweet boy’s first two years. We started their portrait journey with their maternity session, which was recently featured in The Fount Collective, followed by a newborn session, and this stunning Motherhood Mini Session last spring. I even had the joy of working with them again last Fall.

There’s nothing sweeter than working with clients throughout the year, and while I’m immensely grateful for each and every one of my clients, there’s always such a sweet rapport with those I work with regularly.

For this Motherhood Mini Session, Mom chose a stunning, flowy white gossamer dress from the Client Wardrobe. We paired that with the cutest little overalls for her little guy- also from the wardrobe! I love how it showed off his sweet little features at this age, like his arm rolls and stunning blue eyes.

During this session, he was still in the phase where he liked being snuggled without running away. I made sure to get lots of detailed photos during those snuggles. As a mama of two boys, I know just how sweet those are as they get older and busier!
