When this sweet Mama reached out asking about a full family session on film, I can’t lie, I was a little nervous! There is a sense of security with digital photography, especially when you have two toddlers in the mix. But as nerve-racking as it can feel, I also love that film forces me to slow down and wait for those little moments. I find that it’s those little, in-between moments, we as parents want to freeze and remember forever!

I met up with this sweet family a little after sunrise on Folly Beach and the sun was pretty bright. Being a Charleston Photographer and one that frequently photographs families on the beach, I typically avoid the bright sun. However, with film, we have more wiggle room…and honestly, I kinda like it in the sun! Now, that’s not to say we are going to do a photoshoot on the beach at noon, but it does give us the option for a sunrise beach session!

I absolutely loved how this sweet family came to play and love on their littles. It truly does make such a difference in photos. I not only want to create beautiful photos, but I want them to make you feel something. The connections, the joy, the memories – all of it, because in 5, 10, 20, or 50 years from now these photos of your family will mean so much more. Add the classic look of film photography, and this session easily became one of my favorites!
