Gosh, it’s hard to believe it’s been two years since I met this sweet family for their little boy’s newborn session. It has been such a joy to see him grow and get to know his little personality. It’s not lost on me how special it is to be able to photograph families over the years. There are a lot of family photographers here in Charleston but the fact that families consider me “their photographer” whenever they have a milestone to document is such an honor.

If you’ve been following me for a while you may recognize this family’s milestone session on the beach at Isle of Palms. That is still one of my favorite sessions to date! Then for this little guy’s one-year photos, we explored part of historic Downtown Charleston. Their connection is just so beautiful to photograph, they are naturals in front of the camera.

This was one of my mini sessions that took place on an overcast Fall day, but I love that it still felt very much southern and Charleston-like! Our Fall is basically an extended summer here anyway right?! Oh, and can we also just take a minute and talk about how adorable those little kid loafers are? I think I need to buy them for my two boys!

Since we already did a downtown session together, I made sure to use different angles and side streets to give their gallery more variety. I love walking our historic streets because no two look alike.

This is the first session I photographed where this sweet boy was walking by himself, so we had to keep up with him on the cobblestone streets! I love this stage because it’s the first time you start to really see the world through their eyes.

We always a few good laughs throughout our session, usually because this sweet boy is very serious when the camera comes out. I have to pull out all of the stops to get those cute grins!
